Week 6

Date backwards is Etad.

Well, this Endnote program should make things a heck of a lot easier. I hope. With my luck I'll end up making it harder. Well... I dont have much more to say. Lecture was on Endnote usage. Workshop was an exercise in Endnote.

Week 5

Date: A type of fruit

See how my sense of humour has diminished in this place? Sigh.....

I have read this article called The DNA of Information by N. Negroponte. He talks about some very interesting things involving bit data and true life, which he refers to as bits and atoms (respectively).

This Negroponte person sees the value in using bits; however, he underestimates the value of atoms. The only con he mentions about bits is that they cannot replace atoms (at least not right now). He also mentions that “My bits, unlike PolyGram's atoms, were not caught in customs”. This is not just a pro, but also a con. Because of this, an individual can access almost anything from almost anywhere. Not everything bit is a good bit. Another thing to note is that unlike my programs and bit-files, my video cassettes aren’t going to crash because of a virus.

Regarding the topic of books and digital books, perhaps it has not occurred to him as well, that people sometimes simply like to read a book because it’s a book? Digital books can take away a little bit of the magic for some people. And the likelihood that someone is going to pay for aforementioned digital book is low (why buy when you can just use a torrent?); how are writers supposed to make a decent living?

The internet and digital information is very convenient and helps alot; but it it should not replace human living.

Thats my 2 cents. Which, rounded, is zero. Which is actually about the same amount your IQ just increased.

Week 4

Stardate: 6.1035
Real Date: .....Dunno

I used the natives 'Google' search engine for groups relating to for 'anime'. It came up with a few foreign sites and some porn. Which is why I hate the internet. Its a breeding ground for weirdos and perverts. The 'podcast' site was better. There was only one random porn podcast that I came across. Which makes me wonder.... how exactly could you make a podcast out of that sort of thing? Something for you to ponder about, whenever it is that you people ponder.

Podcasts, for those that do not suffer the horrors of dialup internet like I do, are quite useful, if the right podcast can be found. Its like taping the lecture except lazier and more convenient! Podcasts can be found on almost any topic, from ninjas to quantum physics.

I would show the natives the workings of things like these, but they would probably begin to worship it as a divine gift.
